Third and Perry Streets Intersection

Construction underway

As Downtown transforms this summer, the Town of Castle Rock is also working to ensure smooth access.

Specifically, big changes are coming to Festival Park. As the park becomes an enhanced gathering center for the Downtown core, Second Street has been closed to through traffic.

As a result, the intersection of Third and Perry streets will also be transformed – into a mini roundabout. Construction on a new mini roundabout began in early July.

Expected impacts

During construction, the Town intends to maintain access through the intersection and to nearby businesses. Every effort will be made to minimize disruption to businesses and the traveling public.

Night work scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 15

Crews will remove existing asphalt located at the center of the intersection and install the curb of the circle. For the safety of workers and the traveling public, the intersection will be closed from 10 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, to 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16.

The detour around the intersection is Fourth Street to Wilcox Street to South Street to Perry Street, east on Second Street to Front Street. Please see map below.

The need

The Town is working in partnership with Downtown to enhance Festival Park, at Second and Perry streets, into an urban center. The Town has hired a consultant, and is working on the redesign of the park.

As part of this exciting project set to open in 2017, the intersection of Second and Perry streets will close. That means more cars using Third and Perry streets. Learn more about the Festival Park redesign.

Background and research

There are a variety of ways to keep traffic moving through an intersection. After gathering feedback from area business owners, the Town chose a roundabout.
