Earth Day Willow Conservation Project

For almost a decade volunteers have been helping the Town celebrate Earth Day by restoring disturbed areas along Sellars Gulch in Downtown Castle Rock or at Philip S. Miller Park. We harvested willow branches from healthy riparian (streamside) habitat upstream of Festival Park, then replanted them along Sellars Gulch as it travels through Festival Park or along the drainages at Philip S. Miller Park.

50th Anniversary Earth Day Festival

Saturday, April 25, 2020

Since this is the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, we have added an Earth Day Festival after the Willow Harvest and Planting event!

Register for the willow harvest and planting activity from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. then stay for the festival from 11 a.m.-3 p.m at Festival Park. Learn about beekeeping, indoor farming, food preservation, upcycling and more. Or, shop vendors featuring upcycled goods or enjoy fare from unique food trucks, craft beers and more.

Want to volunteer? Register here to volunteer at the 50th Anniversary Earth Day Festival.

The willow conservation project  is perfect for Scout groups working on their conservation badges! Plus, learn how to improve and restore riparian habitat.

Rain date is Sunday, April 26.
