Outdoor enthusiasts and fitness buffs are always looking for ways to change things up. Next month, changing your workout could change someone’s life. Join the second annual Climb4Change event Saturday, May 7.
The event is being held to raise funds for the Town’s REAL special needs program. The program supports members of the community who have disabilities, and provides an adaptive recreation program that aims at empowering citizens with a disability to live an active lifestyle. Climb4Change is changing the perception on disabilities one step at a time.
Help raise money for the program by participating in one of the three different events. These events will be held on the Challenge Hill at Philip S. Miller Park. The 200 steps offer a great workout and a great way to give back to the Castle Rock community. The Climb4Change events are:
•Race to the Top – head up the 200 steps once as fast as possible. Can you beat the record 1 minute and 26 second time?•Trail Race – this course will take you up the stairs and back down the half-mile trail. You’ll have 30 minutes to beat the record of five laps.•Power Hour – up and down the stairs for 60 minutes straight. The record is 13 laps!
Registration includes coffee, snacks, a participation medal and T-shirt. Fees range from $20 to $35, depending on the course. Kids under 5 are free. Head to CRgov.com/Climb4Change for more information and registration.
On-site packet pickup and registration begins at 7 a.m. Power Hour begins at 8 a.m., the Trail Race begins at 9:25 a.m., and the Race to the Top event begins at 10:15 a.m. Results and prizes will be awarded at 11:15 a.m.
Not up for the 200-stair challenge? There are still ways to get involved. Try volunteering for the event! More information is available at CRgov.com/volunteer. Or, become a sponsor.
