Discovering the dream at Philip S. Miller Park; new amenities open to the public May 14

Celebrating the community and providing opportunities for families to spend time together was a priority for Castle Rock’s historic Miller family. Now, after years of work, we’re discovering that dream with new gathering locations at Philip S. Miller Park. Join the grand opening celebration as we welcome these new amenities.

The Amphitheater, Millhouse events center and Plaza will officially open with a celebration Saturday, May 14. Mark your calendars to join the Town for family friendly fun as we explore the new features opening at the park.

The festivities begin at 10 a.m. and will continue through 6 p.m. Participate in free activities all day including an inflatable bouncy house and obstacle course, crafts, trackless train rides, indoor photo booth, archery, a kid’s dance party, and giant outdoor yard games. There will also be food trucks and beverage sales available.

The day’s schedule will be:

10 a.m.-4 p.m. STEM activities
11:15 a.m. Program and ribbon cutting

Bump Soccer will be a 5 minute demonstration on the outdoor synthetic-turf field for those 12 and older. Free archery demonstrations will also be offered on the half-sized synthetic-turf field inside the MAC for those 7 and older.

All of the grand opening event activities will be free for the day. However, please keep in mind the MAC will be regular paid admission. This includes the indoor play structure, swimming pool, trampolines, indoor synthetic-turf field and golf simulator.

This event is expected to be extremely popular, and parking is limited at the park. Event goers are encouraged to park at the Douglas County Fairgrounds or the Downtown Parking Garage at Third and Jerry streets. A shuttle service will be provided to transport guests to the park.

The second phase of the park is all about community gathering. The new Plaza, Millhouse and Amphitheater will be exciting new meeting and event locations for residents to enjoy.

The Plaza will be the new center of the park and houses group picnic pavilions, an outdoor fireplace, additional restrooms and a splash pad – so don’t forget your swimsuit.

Looking for the perfect event locations? The Millhouse may be the answer. The indoor/outdoor events center is great for up to 125 people. An outdoor pond and water feature make this the perfect locations for weddings and other special events.

Plus, the Amphitheater will bring live entertainment from around the country to Castle Rock. Mark your calendar for the new Celebration Concert Series. The series kicks off Saturday, May 21. More information is available at

The park is named in honor of banker and philanthropist Philip S. Miller. The Town was one of several recipients gifted trust monies from Miller and his wife, Jerry.

Thank you to our event sponsors: Castle Rock Parks and Trails Foundation, Castle Rock Adventist Hospital, DR Horton, Douglas County Libraries, REI, 4H, Patriot Plumbing, Colorado Soccer Buddies, Denver Bump Soccer and Youth Archery Academy.
