Partial closures of Plum Creek/Wilcox intersection start June 12

Plum Creek Parkway news

Crews are working hard along Plum Creek Parkway so drivers will have a smoother ride and easier access to Interstate 25 by the end of the summer.

As this work continues, it’s a priority for the Town to balance roadway access with safety precautions. To achieve that balance, partial closures of the intersection of Wilcox Street and Plum Creek Parkway will be necessary. The closure is expected to start at 6 p.m. Sunday, with work beginning Monday, June 13.

The entire intersection will be reconstructed, which includes removal of the dip on Plum Creek Parkway at Wilcox Street. Plus, additional turn lanes will be added to improve traffic flow for westbound Plum Creek Parkway as well as northbound Wilcox Street.

Drivers will still be able to use Plum Creek Parkway in both directions, but there will be detours for drivers using Wilcox Street.

Here’s what to expect before work wraps up in late July:

• The north half of the intersection will be completed first. That means southbound traffic on Wilcox Street will be detoured.

• Then, in a few weeks, crews will work on the south side of the intersection, meaning northbound Wilcox Street traffic will be detoured on to Rio Grande Drive (near the Taco Bell). Watch for a temporary four-way stop at Rio Grande Drive and Perry Street, which is being installed to accommodate the extra traffic from the detour. Traffic from the south wishing to get to I-25 should follow this detour to Perry Street and Plum Creek Parkway. This portion is expected to start in late-June.
Alternate routes are advised. View options at CRgov.com/PCroadwork. The Town reminds drivers to please drive safely through construction zones and along detour routes.

Construction along Plum Creek Parkway started in late May and is expected to wrap-up by mid-August, depending on weather. Visit CRgov.com/PCroadwork to get information and sign up for email or text updates.
