If you travel Plum Creek Parkway, you know it’s been a cone zone this summer. The Town appreciates your patience as we bring you better roads. This week, there are some changes ahead.
As this road work continues, it’s a priority for the Town to balance roadway access with safety precautions. For the past few weeks, the north side of the Plum Creek Parkway and Wilcox Street intersection has been closed. Work on that half is just about done, and crews will switch to the south half tonight.
Here’s what to expect starting Thursday morning:
• Northbound Wilcox Street traffic will be detoured onto Rio Grande Drive (near the Taco Bell)• Watch for the temporary four-way stop at Rio Grande and Perry Street, which was installed to accommodate the extra traffic from the detour• Traffic from the south traveling to I-25 should follow the detour along Rio Grande to Perry Street and Plum Creek Parkway. An alternate route would be to use Crystal Valley Parkway to Lake Gulch Road, and then on to either Plum Creek Parkway to I-25, or Gilbert Street to Fifth Street to I-25 at Wolfensberger Road• Southbound Wilcox Street traffic will be able to turn right at Plum Creek Parkway; however, a left turn to eastbound Plum Creek Parkway will not be possible until the south side of the intersection is constructed. The detour for eastbound Plum Creek Parkway is South Street to Perry Street to Plum Creek Parkway • Westbound traffic on Plum Creek Parkway will be able to turn right onto Wilcox Street; however, a left turn to southbound Wilcox will not be possible. The detour will be Perry Street to Rio Grande, back to Wilcox Street southbound.
• Drivers will still be able to use Plum Creek Parkway in both directions, but there will be detours for drivers using Wilcox Street. However, alternate routes are advised. View options at CRgov.com/PCroadwork
• Please drive safely through construction zones
The entire intersection will be reconstructed, which includes removal of the dip on Plum Creek Parkway at Wilcox Street. Additional turn lanes will be added to improve traffic flow for westbound Plum Creek Parkway as well as northbound Wilcox Street. Plus, there will be improvements to northbound I-25 at the Plum Creek Parkway interchange.
The project started in late May and is expected to wrap-up by mid-August, depending on weather. Visit CRgov.com/PCroadwork to get information and sign up for email or text updates.
