Projects of significance and community value go beyond town boundaries. They take a partnership. Later this month, one of those projects will open for public use – Castle Rock Parkway/North Meadows Drive.
As the final construction items are completed this month, let’s take a moment to celebrate this community accomplishment. The Town of Castle Rock invites you to join us and our public project partners – Douglas County and the Colorado Department of Transportation – for a sneak peak and road dedication during a family friendly celebration from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11.
The event will include tours of the site and a dedication ceremony promptly at 6 p.m. There will also be free food and family activities. Bring your bikes to decorate and ride around the new road. It’s the perfect opportunity to learn how a project of this size is completed.
Safety is of utmost importance when opening a new road connection. The Town’s contractor, Kraemer North America, continues to be hard at work finalizing every detail. As soon as the road is ready for traffic, it will open to the public. Watch CRgov.com and the Town’s Facebook page (Facebook.com/CRgov) for current information. Or, sign up at CRgov.com/notifyme. It’s anticipated the road will open by the end of the month.
The North Meadows Extension – now named Castle Rock Parkway/North Meadows Drive – is a brand-new 2-mile road connecting The Meadows to U.S. Highway 85 and Interstate 25.
The project broke ground in October 2013. When it opens, the new road is expected to improve operations at the current Founders/Meadows Parkway interchange with I-25 and the intersection of Meadows Parkway and U.S. 85. It will also provide a second northern access for residents on the west side of Town.
The project is the Town’s largest transportation project ever, and the Town didn’t do it alone. The road is a public partnership among the Town, Douglas County and the Colorado Department of Transportation.
