Celebrate your athletic spirit at new Rocky Mountain Sports Festival

Rocky Mountain Sports Festival

Colorado is known as a great place to be active. And, Castle Rock in particular has the perfect mix of terrain, well-planned open space and trails, and community events for residents, business owners and athletes to enjoy. In the spirit of celebrating Colorado’s active culture, join the Town for the new Rocky Mountain Sports Festival. This celebration of sports was designed specifically for Castle Rock’s energetic community. Join us between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, to check out the fun. All day there will be athletic competitions taking place at Philip S. Miller Park. Participate in a 5K or 1-mile race, hosted by PR Youth Running; check out the climbing competition at the Epic Adventure Tower; conquer the Warrior Course at the Epic Sky Trek; experience a roller derby demonstration by Rocky Mountain Roller Punks; find your inner chakras with Ashva Yoga. The possibilities are endless. And, that’s just to name a few! Not feeling the competitive spirit? Don’t miss the festival at the Amphitheater at Philip S. Miller Park. Listen to live music while enjoying food and drink vendors. Go to CRgov.com/SportsFest for more information, a full schedule and to register for an athletic event. Athletic sponsors include Ashva Yoga, Plum Creek Golf Club, Aerial Works, Castle Rock Zip Line Tours, Fly Green Disc Golf, PR Youth Running, Cross Fit Loop, Rocky Mountain Roller Punks, Rocky Mountain Self Defense and Fitness, Storm Soccer, and Renaissance Secondary School. Music more your speed? Don’t miss DJ Eliana (10 a.m.), the Bill McKay Band (12:15 p.m.), Andy Palmer (1:30 p.m.) and the Fox Street Band (3 p.m.) at the Amphitheater! Following the festival, continue the sports high, and join the Town for the annual Pedal the Moon cycling event. Grab your bike, helmet and a few decorations to light up the night with the annual family fun bike ride. Meet at the picnic pavilions at Butterfield Crossing Park at 7:30 p.m. to join the ride. More information at CRgov.com/pedal. Whether you’re a seasoned sports veteran, just starting out or prefer to watch sports from the couch – the Rocky Mountain Sports Festival will truly have something for everyone and will be an event you won’t want to miss.
