The slate of candidates for November’s Town Council election has been set. The following candidates have submitted petitions by the Aug. 29 deadline and are certified to be on the November ballot. They are listed in alphabetical order. The Town Clerk’s Office will do a later drawing to determine ballot order.

District 1 (portions of The Meadows)
Tom Jeanette
Jess Loban

District 2 (Metzler Ranch, Diamond Ridge, Maher Ranch)
None at this time

District 4 (portions of Red Hawk, Downtown, and the Woodlands)
Michael Angell
Jason Bower
Nick Lucey
** An additional candidate submitted a petition that did not have the required 25 valid signatures. State Statute allows candidates in that case to amend the petition and resubmit it. The candidate has until Sept. 6 to do so.

District 6 (Dawson Ridge, Plum Creek and Crystal Valley)
Jimmy Graham
George Teal

For any district, potential write-in candidates can file an affidavit of intent to run by Oct. 7. After that deadline, if there is no write-in candidate filed for District 2, the next step is for Council to appoint someone to serve in that seat.

In November 2015, Castle Rock voters decided to change the municipal election from April of even-numbered years to November of even-numbered years. Council terms are staggered, so Districts 1, 2, 4 and 6 are elected to four-year terms this year, and Districts 3, 5 and 7 will be elected to four-year terms in 2018.

This election will occur by mail along with the general election. Ballots are set to be mailed in mid-October, and the election will be coordinated by Douglas County. Those elected will be sworn in on Dec. 6.
