Help shape the future of Castle Rock. Apply to serve on a board or commission

If you’re passionate about our Town, consider applying for a position on a board or commission.


Annual recruitment for the Town’s 11 boards and commissions is underway. These boards and commissions study various topics and make recommendations to Town Council.


Here is a look at the open positions:


  • Board of Adjustment – Three vacancies with terms expiring May 31, 2019
  • Board of Building Appeals – Three vacancies with terms expiring May 31, 2019
  • Castle Rock Water Commission – Four vacancies with terms expiring May 31, 2019
  • Design Review Board – Two vacancies with terms expiring May 31, 2019 *Must be a Downtown property owner
  • Election Commission – One vacancy with a term expiring May 31, 2020
  • Historic Preservation Board – Four vacancies with terms expiring May 31, 2019
  • Parks & Recreation Commission –Three vacancies with terms expiring May 31, 2019 and two vacancies with terms expiring May 31, 2018
  • Planning Commission – Four vacancies with terms expiring May 31, 2019, and one vacancy with a term expiring May 31, 2018
  • Public Art Commission – Four vacancies with terms expiring May 31, 2019
  • Public Safety Commission – One vacancy with a term expiring May 31, 2018, and three vacancies with terms expiring May 31, 2019
  • Public Works Commission – Four vacancies with terms expiring May 31, 2019


How to apply

The application and additional information are available online at CRgov.com/BandC. Completed applications are due by 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 25.


Interviews will be conducted on May 9 by a panel including the Council liaison to the board or commission; the chair, vice chair or other designated member of the board or commission; and the Town staff liaison. Recommendations for appointments are made to Council for formal approval, and terms typically begin June 1.
