Roadwork along Wilcox Street set to begin April 23

Pavement Maintenance Program

Preventative roadwork keeps our streets safe and extends the life of our infrastructure. Starting Monday, drivers can expect to see road crews along Wilcox Street Downtown.

Crews will remove damaged concrete and then grind the pavement to smooth it out. For safety reasons, some temporary lane and parking space closures will be necessary. Access to businesses will be maintained.

Starting at the Wilcox Street intersection with Fifth Street, crews will remove and replace damaged concrete. They’ll work their way south, completing the southbound side first. Then they will work on the northbound side, followed by the middle. This concrete work will stretch to Plum Creek Parkway and is expected to be done by mid-May. Grinding will be from Wolfensberger Road to Plum Creek Parkway. That work is scheduled to be done at night and is expected to be completed by early June.

This roadwork will be completed as part of the Town’s annual Pavement Maintenance Program. This Council-approved program concentrates residential road maintenance to one of five defined residential areas each year on a rotating basis. Additionally, primary and Downtown streets receive repairs as needed. The goal is to increase efficiency, reduce costs and minimize disruption to neighborhoods.

In all, the Town will invest $11 million in street maintenance this year. The funding is primarily from the Town’s Transportation Fund, which includes revenues from sales tax, motor vehicle tax and building use tax.
