It has been a long construction season, but the wait is finally over. All lanes of Meadows Parkway will officially be open the evening of Friday, Aug. 10. Thank you for everyone’s patience and dedication minding traffic control measures and detours.Crews have been working since late May to replace the 30-year-old concrete with asphalt along Meadows Parkway between U.S. Highway 85 and Prairie Hawk Drive.Keep in mind, there are still a few minor items crews will be addressing. This includes work in both the shoulder and median areas. Please continue to watch for construction workers in the area, and stick to the posted speed limit. In the original project scope, the intersection of Meadows Parkway and Meadows Boulevard was included. However, during construction, crews discovered poor subgrade soil conditions at the intersection. The Town decided to remove the intersection from the project to keep within budget and timeline constraints. The reconstruction of the Meadows Parkway and Meadows Boulevard intersection will now be included in the Town’s 2020 Pavement Maintenance Program, which will also include work on concrete pavement north and south of that intersection. Stay tuned for more information. The Meadows Parkway reconstruction project is an example of your tax dollars at work. The project was budgeted for $2.5 million. Of that, $1.3 million came from a Federal grant administered through the Denver Regional Council of Governments. The rest came from the Town’s Transportation Fund, which includes revenues from sales tax, motor vehicle tax and building use tax.Get Town news straight to your inbox.
