The secret has long been out that Castle Rock is a great place to live and do business.
Last week, the Economic Development Council of Colorado honored those who promote those aspects of the Town with awards.
Large Community of the Year
The EDC of Colorado at its annual conference in Estes Park named Castle Rock “Large Community of the Year” in its Excellence in Economic Development Awards program.
Mayor Jennifer Green and Town Manager David Corliss accepted that award on the Town’s behalf. It was given in recognition of the $60 million in mixed-use economic development projects happening in Downtown Castle Rock, as well as for the $300 million investment being made in the Promenade at Castle Rock project. Further, the Town was recognized for its investment in the Castle Rock Collaboration Campus – a partnership among Arapahoe Community College, Colorado State University, the Douglas County School District and the Town.
The Collaboration Campus project, under construction near Castle Rock Adventist Hospital, was awarded the EDC of Colorado’s “Partnership Award.” The $45 million project will open in fall 2019, with the ability to enroll up to 1,500 students.
“This partnership is a shining example of how collaborative economic development can work to build educational and workforce infrastructure for a community,” the EDC of Colorado said in a press release.
Economic Development Achievement Award
Rounding out the local honorees was Frank Gray, president and CEO of the Castle Rock Economic Development Council, who was presented the “Economic Development Achievement Award.”
Gray was instrumental in the Collaboration Campus project, as well as in the Riverwalk project Downtown and the Miller’s Landing project, near Interstate 25 and Plum Creek Parkway.
At its Nov. 6 meeting, Town Council will recognize the award recipients. Learn more about the EDC of Colorado and these awards at edcconline.org.
