The intersection of Founders Parkway and Allen Way is one of the busiest in Castle Rock. The roadway was identified for improvements in the Town’s Transportation Master Plan and, hearing driver concerns, the Town is taking the lead on efforts to relieve congestion and improve traffic flow at the intersection.
Work at this intersection is expected to begin July 15 and be completed this fall. Local businesses will be accessible throughout construction.
Improvements to the intersection include:
During construction, the project will be phased in an effort to minimize delays for drivers. Concrete barriers will be in place for the duration of the project in order to separate the work zone from traffic. This allows the work to occur behind the barrier and reduces the need to have flaggers stop traffic. Flaggers will assist when trucks enter and exit the work zone. Please drive safely through this and all construction zones.
Construction on this regional connection will be done in partnership with the Colorado Department of Transportation, Douglas County and the Federal Highway Administration.
Total funding for the Founders Parkway and Allen Way improvements is $2,642,210. Of that, $1,716,168 will be covered by a federal grant through the Denver Regional Council of Governments, $280,000 will come from the state, $250,000 will come from Douglas County and the Town will fund $396,042.
