Now in its sixth month of local impacts, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause interruptions to our area’s small businesses.
Accordingly, Town Council has approved a second round of small business grants, to help the many outlets that contribute to our community’s economy and character continue to succeed.
The application for the second-round COVID-19 Small Business Support Grant Program opens today, Sept. 8, and will be available through 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25.
Non-home-based businesses that have been operating in Castle Rock for at least a year and that have applied for a federal SBA loan are eligible to apply at CRgov.com/BusinessGrants. Priority will be given to firms most impacted by the pandemic, including storefront retail, restaurants and personal care businesses. Additional criteria are available online.
Eligible businesses must provide evidence that they have suffered interruptions to include a loss of revenue totaling at least $5,000 that can be attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic when comparing May-August 2020 to May-August 2019.
A committee will review all applications. If a business timely submits an application compliant with all criteria, it will be recommended for a $5,000 grant. Town Council will consider the recommendations Oct. 6, and assistance checks will go to recipients soon after, pending confirmation that the Town will be reimbursed for the grants under the federal CARES Act.
This program complements one Douglas County is presently offering, to reimburse businesses with 100 or fewer employees for up to $10,000 in costs for personal protective equipment or structural changes related to COVID-19. Castle Rock businesses are also eligible to apply for that program, the initial deadline for which is Sept. 15. The State also presently has small business loans and grants available. Visit https://energizecolorado.com/gap-fund/ for details.
