The cooler weather and moisture this week has helped reduce the current fire danger. As a result, the Town is moving from Stage 2 to Stage 1 Fire Restrictions beginning today.
Acting on the authority granted by Town Council, Town Manager David L. Corliss and Castle Rock Fire and Rescue Chief Norris Croom III have transitioned the Town to Stage 1 Fire Restrictions.
Castle Rock Fire and Rescue will continue to closely monitor moisture levels and other conditions. Stage 2 fire restrictions could be reinstated if dry conditions return and fire risk increases.
For now, residents are free to responsibly use campfires in approved areas, among the other practices that had been prohibited under the Stage 2 restrictions.
As a reminder, Stage 1 Fire Restrictions prohibit the following:Open burning of any kindUse of fireworks (Note that Town Code states personal fireworks are only allowed on July 4.)
