Last year, Town Council accepted entitlement status to be eligible to receive an allocation of Community Block Development Grant funding provided through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The grant can be used to revitalize neighborhoods, expand affordable housing, offer economic opportunities and improve community facilities and services.
The Town of Castle Rock recently conducted a survey in partnership with Douglas County to collect resident input on needs within the community. To gather additional input, two virtual public meetings will be held to discuss housing and community development needs in the Town. The meetings will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 12, and Thursday, April 15. Links to the virtual meetings can be found at CRgov.com/CDBG.
As part of the CDBG program, the Town must develop a 2021-2025 Consolidated Plan that outlines the housing and community development needs. Goals are then created to address the needs. Upon HUD approval of the Town’s Consolidated Plan, funds will be available starting Oct. 1, 2021.
The Consolidated Plan provides for, and encourages, resident participation and emphasizes participation by persons who will benefit from the program in areas in which the Town proposes to use the CDBG funds.
